BLOG #1
I'm doing my blog about ghettos. I kind of knew about ghettos but I didn't know very much about them. The term "ghetto" originated from the name the Jewsish quater in Venice. What ghettos were for is to Isolate the Jews by seperating Jewish communities from the non-Jewish population & from other Jewish communities. During World War II ghettos were city districts. The Germans forced the Jew's to live under miserable condition. The Jew's had to wear either identifying badges or armbands. Some ghettos existed for only a few days, and others for months or years. There were 3 types of ghettos, colsed ghettos, open ghetto, and destruction ghettos. These are just a couple of things that I didn't know about ghettos. This made me learn more about them than what I already knew before.

Did you know that people had to share their apartments with no less than 2 other families and live in cold, infested rooms? Pretty gross and degrading to a human being! Thanks for the knowledge. Mary Rittel

ReplyDeleteGreat start on your blog Katie! This topic is very interesting and can really help us understand what it was like to be a Jewish person living during this time period.
Be sure to do a spell check before posting. You should also ONLY use apostrophes when you are using a contraction or indicating possession. You do not need an apostrophe to indicate a plural noun--ex: "Jew's" should be "Jews."
Moving forward, please include links to your sources or cite your sources. If you are ever directly quoting from a source, be sure to put it in quotes. This makes it much easier for you or your readers to find the original source if they want to read more and it gives credit to the original author. It is also helpful for you as a writer if you ever need to check your source for information as you revise.
